On April 5th, hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans will be heading to over 1,100 planned demonstrations to protest against this Administration’s egregious power grab. All across this nation people will be standing up to tell Trump and his oligarchs to keep their greedy hands off what is rightfully ours.
Tomorrow the people will say hands off our public lands. The Trump Administration has laid off thousands of federal workers at the National Park Service. They are laying the ground to sell off our public land to fund their tax cuts. Our public lands are for public use and we can’t let them sell it off to their billionaire friends. Hands Off!
Tomorrow the people will say hands off of veteran’s benefits. Veterans earned these benefits defending our freedoms. These benefits are not entitlements, they are the very least of what we owe these men and women who put their physical and mental well being at stake for our country. Hands Off!
Tomorrow they will say hands off of Social Security. We have all paid into this system our entire working lives. The mismanagement and poor decisions made by Congress that will eventually lead the system to insolvency does not mean that it is an entitlement either. This is our money. Hands Off!
Tomorrow they will say hands off of education. An uneducated population is an easily controlled population. Every authoritarian regime needs the people they are ruling to be ignorant. We need a healthy education system so we can learn to analyze information to be able to recognize truth from lies. Hands Off!
Tomorrow the people will say hands off our healthcare. The gutting of all our health institutions will have devastating effects on our country. Countless people will die from the cuts to medical research, the shuttering of vaccine programs, and the layoffs of thousands of medical professionals. The proposed cuts to Medicaid and Medicare will cause so many across this nation to lose the only option they have for healthcare. Hands Off!
Tomorrow they will say hands off our reproductive rights. And Trans rights. LGBTQ rights. Civil rights. Federal workers rights. Labor rights. Immigrants rights. Every right you can think of that is enshrined in our laws and our constitution, people will be standing up tomorrow to tell the Trump Administration, Hands Off!
This is our country. It belongs to us, the people of the United States of America. We need to stand together and shout out that we will not let them take away our rights or take away what is ours to enrich themselves.
